Mommom's Bakery was founded in December 2020 by Linda Goodliffe and her Mom, Susan Goodliffe. Linda is a veteran of the US Navy, among other things, and Susan worked as a nurse for many years. Susan did the Martha Stewart dinner party thing in New Jersey for her husband's business and nonprofit work (Linda and her sister's dad), and for large family gatherings for years before Martha Stewart published her first cookbook. Susan had become known for her gourmet cooking and baking, she just didn't get paid for it! Linda and her sister, Julie, grew up helping mom in the kitchen and eating all that gourmet food, and Linda used to teach her friends how to cook and bake starting in elementary school. We should have started this bakery long ago!
Baking has been an expression of love in our family for generations, and we're thrilled to be able to share that love with you. Family recipes we still bake go back well over 100 years to Germany, Austria, and Hungary. Susan learned to bake from her grandmother, who was a baker in a bakery in Vienna, Austria before she came to America, and her mother who had those recipes that go back hundreds of years to Germany.
When we say our food is wholesome, what we mean is that it hearkens back to the days of our family farm when great-grandmom used to bake for family and friends with what they grew on the farm. We never use trans fats, preservatives, bleached or bromated flour, or anything artificial. Two exceptions are sprinkles on Christmas cookies, and the Karo Corn Syrup in our pecan pie that has one preservative.
Each of us has been experimenting in the kitchen for as long as we could reach the counter. There has been buttercream on the ceiling, and there have been cheesecake volcanoes in the oven, but the ultimate result is always something mouth watering and special. Check our web site regularly so you don't miss a thing!
We bake in a local, shared commercial kitchen that is regularly inspected and licensed, and our bakery has passed an inspection by the Department of Agriculture. We are committed to serving the best products we possibly can. Unfortunately, this kitchen is not set up for pick-up, which is why we deliver. We're actively working on getting our own commercial kitchen and retail bake shop as soon as we possibly can!
